Most of us are on social media these days. We have all seen it. Somebody posts about some difficulty they are going through and the comments start coming, “sending you good vibes” and “sending you prayers and good thoughts.” That’s when I personally start to hurt all over.

First of all, when we pray it’s to God, not to the suffering person. So, let’s “send prayers” to God, right? And then if we are going to “send” something to the person, let’s send something that will actually make a difference! Good vibes are wonderful if you are laying on the table of a masseuse, but when a person is in a life and death situation or another crisis they need something more than that.

What can we send? And how do we send it? What will it actually do if received?

Psalm 107:20 says, “He (God) sent his word and healed them, and delivered them from their destruction.”

One of my favorite ways to study the word of God is to look up every word in the original and then rewrite it using those words to paint a clearer picture.

“He (God) shot out His word like seeds and it mended, cured, repaired, and thoroughly made them whole, and rescued them from their pit.”

Wow! Now, if God can send His word to somebody and it have that effect, why in the world can’t you and I? We can! God sends His word to us by speaking it. Men of old wrote His words down in a book called the Bible. We can also send His word by speaking it and by writing (posting and private messaging) it.

Hebrews 4:12 says, “For the word of God is living and active and full of power [making it operative, energizing, and effective]. It is shaper than any two-edged sword, penetrating as far as the division of the soul and spirit [the completeness of a person], and of both joints and marrow [the deepest parts of our nature], (Amplified)

I heard a preacher say that even the most skilled surgeon with the sharpest scalpel may not be able to cut away everything that needs to be cut away. But the word of God can and does. It can even get in so deep that it divides the soul and spirit of a person and heals their personality.

Sending the word of God will do so much more than all the good vibes and happy thoughts we could ever send! When we send people God’s word and it’s received, it produces faith. It brings healing. It brings deliverance. It liberates and brings the victory!

All of God’s word has healing power in it, but here are some specific healing scriptures you can post, speak or send to people:

Psalm 103:2-3 Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget none of His benefits, Who pardons all of your iniquities; who heals all your diseases. (NAS)

Isaiah 53:4-5 Surely He took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered Him punished by God, stricken by Him, and afflicted. But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on Him, and by His wounds we are healed. (NIV)

Acts 10:38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and power; who went about doing good and healing all that were oppressed of the devil, for God was with Him. (KJV)

Hebrews 10:8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. (NAS)
